The kittens are almost 8 weeks, and up for adoption!  The students at the San Antonio Campus of Teen Challenge of Texas have been taking care of the mother and her first litter, and there is no end to the love shown to these kitties!  But, they must go, so we’re offering them for adoption.

About 1,000 sixth, seventh, and eighth grade choir students from all 17 Northside ISD middle schools will sing and dance together in a special collaborative performance Saturday evening.

“Together We Sing” will feature popular Motown songs, and a live band, Soul Grammar, will accompany the students. NISD choral directors and teachers will serve as backup singers for the students.

Choreography is being provided by internationally recognized choral music educator John Jacobson.

The students will arrive at the Paul Taylor Field House 9 a.m. Saturday to rehearse in groups throughout the day. A full rehearsal with all 1,000 students is scheduled at 4:15 p.m.

The medal swap meet, where Fiesta fans can buy, sell or trade those popular pieces of memorabilia, is to take place Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Main Plaza. Many official Fiesta nonprofit organizations will be on hand with their 2010 items. The event had been scheduled as part of Fiesta Fiesta at the Alamo, which was canceled because of rain.

Event underwriter FiestaMedals.com will choose the best professionally made medal. The San Antonio Express-News will award its prize for the best homemade medal.

So take your lunch and your Fiesta spirit to Main Plaza Tuesday—and leave with a sash full of souvenirs.

CPS Energy takes a major leap toward its goal of 20 percent peak power coming from renewable sources, now that a South Side solar energy project is starting its construction phase.

The new project, called Blue Wing Solar Project, will have 214,500 solar panels and produce a 14 megawatt power station near the crossroads of Interstate 37 South and U.S. 181 South. Subcontractors broke ground on the project in March.
